Ashley Goforth is a digital strategist specializing in branding, social media, and online communications.
She is currently a Community Manager at GolinHarris, where she manages global and national social media accounts for numerous brands, including those under the Unilever and Energizer Personal Care umbrellas. In addition to social media management, Ashley develops strategy and tactics for new business pitches, joins digital pr teams for numerous brand events in the GolinHarris portfolio and builds content calendars for social media campaigns. Not wanting to drift too far from her beginnings in non-profit, Ashley also works with GolinHarris' CSR practice, Change - bringing social good to every aspect of a company's work.
Prior to joining GolinHarris, Ashley managed the social media channels for the Food Bank For New York City. In addition to managing the editorial calendar and crafting social media strategy for all marketing campaigns and partnerships for the Food Bank brand, Ashley developed the nonprofit social media efforst for the Food Network New York City Wine and Food Festival, resulting in over 1 million impressions.
Building on her experience building a social media presence from the ground up and managing brands both large and small, Ashley provides education on social media management and strategy development.
In 2012, Ashley developed a workshop at the Food Bank's Annual Agency Conference for the Food Bank's network of New York soup kitchens and food pantries. Attended by over 100+ leaders in hunger relief, her workshop touched on the importance of social media, keys for developing strategy and continued management as well as using social media for fundraising.
She also developed a workshop for 15 senior volunteers at various levels of social media expereince seeking to learn more about non-profit use of social media to develop stronger volunteer fundraising and awareness raising efforts in their own volunteer work.
In addition to this work, Ashley provides media consulting services for executives and educators on topics such as technology how-tos; privacy and HR policy; general brand communications and the use of social media in a classroom setting. She also hosts MakeShift - a site dedicated to building social media strategy piece by piece.
Ashley received her Master of Arts in Media Studies from The New School, a degree specializing in international corporate digital strategy, media management innovations, evolving worldwide digital privacy law, and the sociology of media communication across all broadcast and digital platforms.
In addition to her MA in Media Studies, Ashley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Florida - so when she's not working and geeking out on digital tools - she's got her nose in a book.
